The clocks were moved an hour ahead yesterday morning, so we're now officially in British Summer Time.

Funny, it doesn't seem any brighter 'round here.

The US apparently switched two weeks earlier, a change I would welcome in this country. Each March and October I think of my ex-colleague, GM, who I recall hated the dark winters almost as much as I did.

We haven't had a day above 55 degrees yet. Thursday am I woke up to a thin layer of crunchy white snow on the grass, and more snow is forecast for Friday.

Must be nice
Before my brother's most recent trip to Siberia, he made a comment about how difficult it would be to be away from his family for such a long time and that in fact this six week tour would be the longest time away from them so far.

At least he had someone waiting for him at the end of the six weeks.

Ruint
Maybe it's only me, but I'm ticked off that I can't enjoy some things I used to really like, because they've become indelibly associated with people or situations I'd rather black out of my memory banks. E.g. I can no longer listen to Tori Amos. I could do without seeing another episode of "The Drew Carey Show." If I never listen to another Cat Stevens song again it will be too soon. I no longer have any interest in having a holiday in Greece.

Good for him
Hmm, I hadn't heard that. Bravo.
"Don't ask, don't tell" was passed by Congress in 1993 after a firestorm of debate in which advocates argued that allowing homosexuals to serve openly would hurt troop morale and recruitment and undermine the cohesion of combat units. John Shalikashvili, the retired Army general who was Joint Chiefs chairman when the policy was adopted, said in January that he has changed his mind on the issue since meeting with gay servicemen. "These conversations showed me just how much the military has changed, and that gays and lesbians can be accepted by their peers," Shalikashvili wrote in a newspaper opinion piece.
