Just another day, though I did have a couple colleagues wish me a happy Thanksgiving, and my lady boss rang in the afternoon to confirm the reason why none of the businesses she's been trying to reach in the US all day have returned her calls ....
It was my first day back at work since last Friday, as my scratchy throat from the weekend turned into a full blown infection & I was miserable and barely able to talk by Monday night. I had a very odd sleep schedule, which made it very difficult to get out of bed on time this morning. It doesn't help that it's been friggin cold, with temps below 0 every night for the past week.
No turkey, but I did find a nice roast lamb, potatoes, carrots & yorkshire pudding dinner at M&S. Sticks to the ribs. The only thing I miss about not being in the States is that unlike there, the Brits don't go full hog with the XMAS crap starting tomorrow - no specials on TV, no "All Christmas, All the Time" on the Radio, no jingle jangle commercials. Hmm, maybe I shouldn't complain.

Why are you here?
I'm not sure why you're looking at this page, as there's been no indication I'd be updating it any time soon. Don't you have more important things to do?
I'm not on the moon, and I'm fine. I just spent a nice 24hrs with my Dad who was here visiting the Gran for her 96th b-day on Friday.
He brought the arctic weather with him, and I seem to have caught something. A sore throat and lack of sleep last night forced me to call in ill this morning, and I slept 'till 3.
That is all.
P.S. Can I just say here that Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit is one of the funniest movies I've seen in years?

unTwidling my Thumbs
Work is getting to be almost too busy. I don't recall most of what I did last week except that two new staff arrived and an old one returned, necessitating prep of hardware & training. Yesterday the file server fell over completely and that was half a day's work on its own. Tomorrow's a CFP meeting in London and Thursday afternoon is a database meeting at the RI. Friday is a laptop prep & we're at the weekend again.
Last weekend was nice in that I didn't have to be anywhere. I convinced CM to come out to see Wallace & Grommit at the George St. Odeon and we both enjoyed it in spite of the small seats & plethora of little monsters.
Finally after 10 days of trying I got hold of Ainsley tonight who it seems has a painful condition that interferes with feeding Ryan; I wish that had been explained to me before as I couldn't understand why "tired" and "feeding" were such issues.
I had to let the cat out of the bag & tell CB I'm on my way, after she very kindly offered to pay for part of my fare so that I could spend the holidays with friends & family. A nice chat on the phone Sunday evening.
G.O. finally got back to me about the web site, but I'm not having much luck getting their old disabled one back up and running. Looks like a new, paid-for one is in order.

NonBon Fire
The week flew. I have no idea where the evenings went, though.
Dan wrote to tell me to ring Ainsley Friday. Two calls unsuccessful.
Out to Gran's relatively early yesterday and shopping for her was hellish -- way too many people and not nearly enough registers open at Sommerfields, and the health food store wouldn't take a card for less than £5. Not too many chores, and a nice enough chat about WWI and rationing and the bull in the fields and jealous siblings.
Bagged the fireworks display with G.O. Cold, windy night, first with the heat on. Firecrackers have been going off for two weeks, anyway.
Up early again for lunch at Cynthia's to catch up, hear about her birthday trip to Tuscany and fix her DVD player. A long afternoon. Dark & dreary once home, so soon to bed.
